Luminous You: Third Appointment and Skin Care

On Saturday, March 2, I had my third BBL treatment with Valery at Luminous You. Shortly after I arrived, Valery applied the numbing cream to my face and then I waited approximately 20 minutes before the BBL treatment started.

On average, a person needs only two of the BBL treatments, but some of my redness was being stubborn and we agreed that a third treatment was needed. Valery decided it was best to turn up the settings on the BBL machine to go deeper into my skin. This was definitely more painful than usual. Valery handed me a pig from her zoo to squeeze! (Her zoo is a few different stress balls/animals to squeeze if necessary.)

After the treatment I went home. I noticed a lot less redness which is great! Unfortunately, a few hours after my treatment, I noticed a little swelling of my face. It wasn’t a big deal, I took some ibuprofen and went to bed.

Let’s jump back to the day of my appointment… Valery suggested that I try a few new skin care products because my face has been very dry lately (I blame the INSANE cold weather). Here are the products that Valery gave me to try: OBAGI nu-derm Gentle Cleanser, OBAGI nu-derm Toner (I have never used a toner before), Hyla 3D HA Activating Complex by Jan Marini, C-ESTA Face Serum (step 2) by Jan Marini, Elta MD UV Replenish Broad-Spectrum SPF 44, and D2O Hydrating Spray by Jane Iredale to use after makeup application. Typically I use all Kiehl’s products and generally have been happy with them. Skin care is very important and needs to go along with the BBL treatments to maximize the results. As mentioned in previous Luminous You post, taking care of your skin is very important and using sunscreen daily is a must!!

The redness in my cheeks a few days out is less noticeable and there are barely any visible vessels, so I think overall the third treatment did the trick. I will update you on the skincare products after I use them for a few weeks.

I am done for now my with BBL treatments, I do feel as though Valery does care about her clients best outcome. She has reached out to me many times to see how I was feeling and to help get to the bottom of the swelling! I appreciate the way she cares about me as a person, not just another client in her chair.

Bachman’s

GUYS!!! I was invited to Bachman’s for a sneak peek event at Bachman’s Holiday Idea House! I was able to bring a plus one and I brought my mother in law since she has been telling me about Bachman’s since we moved here (for about 9 months now) that I had to go to this place and how amazing it is!

So the Holiday Idea House was incredible! I felt like I walked into my Aunt Karen’s house (she’s an incredible decorator!) and just made me so happy! I’m all about Thanksgiving, it’s my favorite holiday, but Bachman’s gave me such Christmas cheer!

The House is open to the public today, November 8 and is open until December 16.

This was just one of many rooms!!!

We also were able to explore the rest of Bachman’s and even had some delicious treats from the cafe located there too!

The best part about the house was that you could go to the store and buy anything and everything that you loved inside the house! (This could be dangerous!!!)

I found the most magical trees all lit and ready for Santa!

Since I was there for a special event we were able to make these super cute ornaments too!

I honestly can’t wait to go back to Bachman’s to shop for the holiday season so I can decorate my new home for Christmas!

Below are the list of events coming up a Bachman’s. I know we are excited to attend a few of them!

Holiday Idea House: November 8-December 16.

Holiday Open House: Saturday, November 17: 9 am-3pm *Santa and his reindeer, Albert, will make an appearance!

Who Wants to be a Toymaker? Holiday Play: November 17-December 16

I gave addition information on each of these events so please feel free to ask for more!!

Huge thank you to MNBloggerBash and Bachman’s for a very merry night!

My #momlife

This. This photo. This is how my #momlife looks most of the time. My husband had come in from the other room to see our two children and two dogs basically on top of me. In this position I usually end up covered in slobber (from both the humans and dogs) but I also know I’m covered in so much love. I wish you could hear this moment, there was so much laughter and I’m so thankful Matt snapped this photo. It’s not perfect, it’s not set up photo, this is our real life…and I wouldn’t change it for the world. (Ok maybe I would make the dogs not shed, but you know what I mean.)

What does your #momlife (or #dadlife) look like?

Voting

I swore I was taking the boys to vote with me on November 6…just like my parents would take me when I was little. I said it every day, “We will vote on November 6.” I may have said it as a reminder since you know, mom brain.

Last week, two of my friends posted about early voting and voting in general (Hey Danielle and Allison!) I didn’t think about early voting. I decided to look into it and realized I could apply for an absentee ballot. It took me maybe 5 minutes to fill out the online form and by the next day my ballot was in the mail.

I was excited at how fast it came! The real reason for my applying for an absentee ballot was that things come up…I know my life can go from calm to poop literally on the floor in the matter of seconds. I didn’t want November 6 to roll around and me lose track of time or miss my chance to vote because of something coming up.

This morning I made sure to get my ballot in the mail and I will proudly wear my sticker today. (Ohio, I hope you’re with the program now and give stickers to absentee ballot voters!!)

I voted while the boys ran around and sang Baby Shark. L asked what I was doing and I did my best to explain to a four year old What voting was and why we do it. I told him that I voted to help make our world a better place, for me, for him, his brother, my sister, my brothers, and our friends and other family. I want the boys to know that their voices matter and they need to make sure their voices are heard. Their vote might only matter when it comes to meal planning right now, but eventually they will be 18 and voting with the rest of us adults.

Family and Friends…PLEASE VOTE. I will love you no matter how you vote, just please do it.

Our Pumpkin Patch Adventure

Yesterday we decided to head back to Pine Tree Apple Orchard to explore the pumpkin patch and corn maze. If you remember when we went apple picking, this was our first stop and then we realized they didn’t have U-pick Apples.

The adventure started off great. We explored the corn maze first. I do wish that they had some sort of activity to do while going through the corn maze. It was so windy and chilly while we were in the maze but it made it that much more fun.

If any of you reading this saw my Instagram story the other day, I posted that four years old is a much more difficult year than the terrible twos or the threenager ages. I’m going to be real with you, once we got to the pumpkin patch, something didn’t go L’s way and he had a meltdown. I don’t really know why but we did take him to the car to settle down. The looks from the teenagers staring while Matt carried him down the hill made me chuckle a little…we were totally their birth control for the night.

After L cooled down and we discussed his choices he understood the few mintues prior to our conversation. We then went to the Farm Store (which really is the best part, right?!) and grabbed some goodies..probably too many goodies, but so delicious.

We then sat by the lake and enjoyed a treat and played for a little bit. Overall we had a nice time other than our little hiccup. We might have to go back to the farm for strawberry picking in the summer, but I do think there will be other pumpkin patches we try next year.

Tonight we will carve the pumpkins and roast some seeds! Photos to follow 🙂

Potty Training 😱

With H just about 2 he’s starting to show signs he’s getting ready to learn how to use the Big Boy Potty. (I swore I’d never use the word “potty” and I catch myself using it in convos now.)

He’s hiding now, so we know he’s becoming aware of what’s going on when he needs to go.

He wants a front row seat when anyone heads into the bathroom which is super fun.

Honestly, I forget all about potty training! I don’t remember how we started with L. I need tips and tricks!

Thankfully we have a super cute potty on the way thanks to Wildkin!

Send Lysol, Clorox, and wine!

Back to Reality

It’s so good to be back home with the boys and dogs! It’s so good to sleep in our own bed. But it was back to reality bright and early, the boys were ready to play at 6 am!

I think the time away was great for us all, the only thing I’ll have to remember for next time is to rest and relax a little more!

I will write a post later today about the fun adventures in DC!

Family Photos

We have been having family photos taken starting with our maternity photos when I was pregnant with L.

We have been looking for a photographer since we moved to Minnesota but life got busy and I haven’t had the time. When my SIL and her family were visiting, she and my MIL set up a photo shoot for the family that was here and we had a lovely afternoon.

Now let’s be real, you NEVER know how the photos will turn out when children are involved. H was being so silly and running and crawling away. L got to the point where we was done and just wanted to go look at Lake Minnetonka and watch the boats. At one point L became sad and was pouty, I told him to smile and here was the result…

Big thanks to my sister for the zoomed in photos! This kid is cracking us up!!! Every time I see this photo I can’t help but laugh! When I showed him the photo he also just giggles!

Now our photographer was amazing and really did get some amazing shots of everyone (I’ll share some more once I have time to decide on favorites!) and we will totally use her again. She was great with the children and even let L take a few photos with her camera! He’s a little photographer in the making.

I hope this photo brought a smile or a giggle to you. And if you should have a rough day, come back and take a look again!

Sorry About The Small Hiatus

Hey there! It’s me! I know I haven’t blogged a while (it seems like forever), but life has been crazy! Big things coming! Stay tuned as I know I’ll need lots of ideas and input!

Minnesota has been treating us well! We have made some awesome friends and have done some fun things! There is still so much exploring to do and we are excited about it!

I’ve been going to the gym a lot, 4-5 days a week but I sometimes get that “MOM GUILT” in thinking I’m taking away time from the boys and doing fun activities with them, but an hour during the week is ok for me to workout, right?!?! Ooo, I’ve been trying out the Pilates Reformer too and I think I’m in LOVE! I have one more private reformer session lined up but I might just have to add some more before I’m ready to dive right in to a class.

I am also looking for activities to do for the school year. L will be in school each day, but half days. H and I will be looking for toddler friendly activities during that time for sure! (PLEASE tell me they have rock climbing or skydiving for an 19 month old…because I feel these are things he craves.) As for L, he wants to play soccer for sure in the Fall! He also really seems interested into Hockey, but that’s a world I know nothing about and it scares me!

Well, both kiddos are awake and my coffee is lukewarm! Time to get this day started!

Love to you all! Thanks for reading and always coming back!

Living in the moment

This statement stopped me in my tracks. While my 4 year old has an incredible memory (which blows my mind) and also is a planner (just like his mama) I couldn’t help but think about how true this is. Children truly live in the moment.

As adults, we can get stuck with things going through our heads, overthinking and rethinking, looking far into the future, and so busy on our phones. I know I’m guilty of all of those things.

I know it’s hard to give each child your full attention all of the time because there is always something else going on.

I know that I always love having something fun to look forward to, but having plans can be a totally different thing… Fran once said to me, “When we plan, God Laughs.” And that has been with me ever since and I think about that saying regularly! Honestly, because having two young children (and a husband) it’s so true!

Life the past few years had been rough with not knowing where we were going to end up, and I had grand plans, and all of those ideas that I had, had to change. This really tested my Type A Personality and thinking back I really need to start living in the moment, just like my children; The Brotherhood.

I’m going to do my best to live in each moment. I’m going to try to put my phone down and focus on just being. (Although I’m obsessed with taking pictures, but I know sometimes that means I’m not fully living in that moment.) I am going to do my best to go with the flow. I now know it’s so true that the days may be long, but the years are short.

Here’s to living in the moment.
